AIA Gala 2011

Auction

A spirited live auction was had at Tuesday night’s gala as guests helped support AIA programs. As soon as auctioneer Sandia Jain Patel took the stage, bidding was in a flurry. Live auction trips included a ten-day trip to the Galapagos Islands, a chance to dig at Pompeii, a Circumnavigation of Ireland and a trip retracing the Odyssey through the Ancient Mediterranean lead by AIA President Elizabeth Bartman and Past President C. Brian Rose, amongst others. These exclusive trips included opportunities not available to the public, giving our gala attendees exclusive access to once-in-a-lifetime trips.

The live auction bidding concluded with a pledge drive for Site Preservation (including Irish sites!). In increments of $250 to $10,000, generous guests pledged their support to the AIA’s Site Preservation program. To learn more about this program and how you can support our efforts, please visit our Site Preservation on the AIA website.

But the bidding didn’t end there! The silent auction had guests on their toes during the reception and during the after party following dinner. Guests had the opportunity to bid on more exclusive trips, including a trip through India, personal tours of the American Academy of Rome and many Irish handicrafts.

For more information on the items which were featured in our auction, both live and silent, please see below.
